Privacy policy — Tab Gallery
Updated 10 May 2026
What this extension does
Tab Gallery replaces your new tab page with a piece of art. It has a “like” button that lets you save a favourite artwork anonymously.
Data collected
| What | Where stored | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Artwork list (cached) | Your browser (localStorage) | Avoid fetching on every tab open |
| Artworks you have liked | Your browser (localStorage) | Remember your likes across sessions |
| Anonymous Firebase user ID and refresh token | Your browser (localStorage) | Keep you as the same anonymous identity so you cannot like the same artwork twice |
| A single “like” vote per artwork | Firebase Realtime Database (Google) | Count likes — no name or personal detail is attached, only a random anonymous ID |
What is not collected
No name, email address, location, browsing history, or any personally identifiable information is ever collected or transmitted.
Third-party services
- alittlenoise.com — artwork images and artwork data are fetched from here.
- Firebase (Google) — anonymous authentication and like counts are stored here. Firebase’s privacy policy applies: firebase.google.com/support/privacy
Data sharing
No data is sold or shared with any party other than Firebase as described above.
Deleting your data
Clearing your browser’s site data for the new tab page removes all locally stored data. Anonymous Firebase votes are not linked to you personally and cannot be retrieved or deleted by you.
